Day (morning and lunch rather) in Monterey

So Kat and I went to Monterey on Friday. We went to the aquarium where we saw lots of cool animals.

Here are some fish:

Here are some Jelly fish:

These were egg yolk jelly fish or something like that:

Here's a bunch of fish in the kelp forest:

And here's some fish from Nemo:

And I was about to post some more but I'm having some technical difficulties.
Anyway, the best part of the day was not going to the aquarium or eating delicious food at a nearby restaurant on Cannery row. It was what happened after lunch while walking back to the car.

We're walking through this little plaza where this one guy is rocking out on his piano-guitar thing. All of a sudden, this one guy turns around and yells at this kid, "That's it! You're grounded for a week!" Immediately, the kid bursts into tears and starts bawling. There were a bunch of people around that seemed shocked at what happened. Then he grabs the kid by the sweatshirt and kinda drags him along. I guess maybe it doesn't seem that funny while typing this out, but both Kat and I can do a great re-enactment to show how funny it was. And....the end.

EDIT: Not the end. Here are some more pictures...

In this picture, the fish is the little yellow thing in the middle. This guy (or gal) hides and then pops out to catch food that's swimming by.

These are some sun fish. According to the little info sheet, they get up to 10 ft big.

Today's America....

So recently, a Major League baseball player died in a car accident. He was drunk (almost twice the legal limit), talking on his cell phone, speeding, and not wearing his seat belt when he crashed into a tow truck that was helping another car. Yes, it's sad, but not the point of this entry.

His father recently filed a lawsuit naming multiple defendants:
- The owner of the restaurant and his daughter (the manager) for continuing to serve drinks to the player the entire time he was at the restaurant.
- The driver of the stalled vehicle because he didn't move his car out of the way of traffic
- The tow truck driver for not moving the stalled vehicle out of the way quickly enough
- The tow truck company....I'm not sure why

Granted, maybe the restaurant maybe could have stopped serving him drinks. Maybe the driver of the stalled car could have tried moving his car out of the way. Maybe the tow truck driver could have been a little quicker about helping (he was supposedly there for 15 minutes). And maybe the tow truck company could have made a safer tow truck so people smashing into the back of it wouldn't die.

But my point is, everyone seems to want to blame someone else for their mistakes.
It seems pretty obvious (to me) who was at fault. If I were a judge, I'd hit the dad in the head with the gavel to knock some sense into him before dismissing the whole thing.

EDIT: Here's the link. They also found marijuana in the car.

have you heard of....

meebo? Meebo is a web-based chatting service. It's like trillian where you can log on under one master ID and then proceed to chat with anyone from gmail, aim, yahoo, msn, icq, or jabber. They just implemented a group chat option. Check it out. They should pay me for advertising.

If you want to chat in my room, click here.

EDIT: ok so i've been using it for a while. i just decided to post about it since i haven't posted in a while.
